Wrong Turn 1
Story!

As Chris Flynn (Desmond Harrington), drives through the mountains of West Virginia, a chemical spill in the road ahead forces him to take a different route. He stops at a rundown gas station and meets an old man (Wayne Robson). The old man is not helpful, but Chris sees a map detailing another route heading to his destination. Chris decides to take the road, but on his way, he collides with a Range Rover stopped in the middle of the road. The car belongs to a group of friends on a hiking trip: Jessie Burlingame (Eliza Dushku), Carly (Emmanuelle Chriqui), her fiancé Scott (Jeremy Sisto), and a couple, Evan and Francine (Kevin Zegers and Lindy Booth). Their tires have been punctured by a piece of barbed wire.
Evan and Francine stay to watch the cars as the others go to find help. Evan goes to the woods to investigate a strange noise. After a while, Francine goes into the woods to look for him. She finds only his sneaker and his severed ear before she is killed by an unseen figure with a strip of barbed wire.
As Chris, Jessie, Carly, and Scott find an isolated cabin. After entering, they are surprised to find human body parts. Horrified, they attempt to escape, but they are forced to hide when they hear the occupants coming back. Three disfigured, cannibalistic mountain men enter the cabin, bringing Francine's dead body. The four silently watch as her body is messily eaten.
The four quietly escape after the cannibals fall asleep. However, one of the cannibals, "Saw-Tooth" awakens, alerts the other cannibals, and begins to chase them through the forest. The group climbs up to a nearby clearing with many cars of the cannibals' victims. Chris is shot in the leg, and Scott saves him by distracting the cannibals, allowing Jessie and Carly to steal one of the trucks. Chris gets into the truck, and they drive down a nearby path in search of Scott. Scott starts to make his way to the truck, but the cannibals kill him with arrows and take his body back to their cabin.
Chris, Jessie and Carly reach a dead end and have to continue on foot. They find a radio in an old watchtower and use it to call for help, but do not get a response. Later, they see the cannibals armed with torches, searching at the foot of the watchtower. The radio starts responding to their call, alerting the cannibals. The cannibals set the tower on fire. Chris, Carly and Jessie escape by jumping out of the window into a nearby tree. As they escape the tower, "Three-Finger" catches Carly and decapitates her.
After escaping, Chris and Jessie hide in a cave near a waterfall until the next morning. Just as they find a road out of the woods, the mountain men find them, pushing Chris down the hill and taking Jessie back to their cabin. Chris survives the fall and meets a sheriff, but before he is able to convince the Sheriff of what is happening, the Sheriff is shot with an arrow. Chris attempts to drive away in the police truck, but cannot find the key, so he instead hitches a ride underneath the truck as it is driven back to the cabin.
At the cabin, Jessie is tied to a bed and gagged. As Jessie is about to be killed, Chris, now driving the police truck, breaks through the cabin and runs into "One-Eye." Chris unties Jessie and they fight the cannibals. They escape as Chris manages to kill the cannibals by blowing up their cabin with a shotgun. Chris and Jessie, driving the cannibals' truck, stop back at the gas station. Chris, badly injured, gets out of the truck and takes the map from the gas station so no one else would suffer the same fate.
The credits are interrupted by a scene showing a deputy sheriff investigating and picking over the remains of the destroyed cabin. Three-Finger, who evidently survived the explosion, kills the deputy. His insane laughter is heard, as the credits continue to roll.

SINISTER
Story

The film opens with Super 8 footage depicting a family of four standing beneath a tree with hoods over their heads and nooses around their necks. An unseen figure saws through a limb acting as a counterweight, causing them all to be strangled.
Months later, washed-up true crime writer Ellison Oswalt (Ethan Hawke) moves into the murdered family's home with his wife, Tracy (Juliet Rylance), and their two children Ashley (Clare Foley) and Trevor (Michael Hall D'Addario). In the opening scene, The Ellison Family is seen moving into the house, but only Ellison is aware that the house they are moving into was the crime scene. Ellison intends to use the murders as the basis for his new book, and hopes that his research will turn up the fate of the family's fifth member, a little girl named Stephanie who disappeared following the murders.
Ellison finds a box in the attic, which contains a projector and several reels of Standard 8mm footage that are each labeled as if innocent home movies. Watching the films, Ellison discovers that they are snuff movies depicting families being murdered in various ways, including having their throats slit in bed (Sleepy Time '98), being burnt to death in a car (BBQ '79), being drowned in their pool (Pool Party '66), being run over by a lawn mower (Lawn Work '86) and the hanging that opened the movie (Family Hanging Out '11).
The film proves especially disturbing for Ellison after he notices a demonic figure watching the drownings from the bottom of the pool before turning to look at the camera. Ellison eventually finds the figure observing the murders in each of the films, along with a strange painted symbol.
Consulting with a local deputy (James Ransone), Ellison discovers that the murders depicted in the films took place at different times, beginning in the 1960s and in different cities across the country. He also learns that the families were all drugged prior to being killed; and that a child from each family went missing following every murder. The deputy refers Ellison to a local professor, Jonas (Vincent D'Onofrio), whose expertise is the occult and demonic phenomena, to decipher the symbol in the films. Jonas tells Ellison that the symbols are that of a pagan deity named Bughuul, who would kill entire families so that he could take their children into his realm and consume their souls.
One night, Ellison hears the film projector running and goes up to the attic. There, he finds the missing children in various states of decay, watching one of the films. Bughuul suddenly appears on camera before physically appearing before Ellison. Ellison takes the camera and the films to the backyard and burns them. Then he wakes his family to tell them that they are moving back to their old house.
Ellison receives a message from Professor Jonas, who sends him scans of historical drawings associated with Bughuul; each had been partially destroyed because ancient cultures believed that Bughuul lived within the images, and that they acted as portals between his realm and the mortal world. Ellison then discovers the projector and films in his attic, along with a new envelope of film labeled "extended endings." The next time the deputy calls, while Ellison is assembling the films, he answers. The deputy informs him that he has discovered a link between each of the murders: Every family had previously lived in the house where the last murder took place, and each new murder occurred shortly after the family moved into their new residence; by moving, Ellison has placed himself and his family in line to be the next victims.
Ellison then watches the footage. He finds that it depicts the missing children coming onscreen following each murder, revealing themselves to be the killers before suddenly disappearing. Before he can react, Ellison becomes light-headed; inspecting his coffee cup, he finds a note reading "Good Night Daddy" before losing consciousness.
Ellison awakens to find himself, his wife and his son bound and gagged. Ashley approaches holding the 8mm camera, and tells him that she will make him famous again. Ashley then proceeds to murder her family with an axe, using their blood to paint images of cats, dogs, and unicorns on the walls. Her work complete, Ashley views the Super-8 film of her murders, which concludes with an image of the missing children watching her. Bughuul appears, causing the children to flee. He lifts Ashley into his arms and disappears into the film with her.
The film concludes with an image of the box of films in the Oswalt family's attic, now accompanied by a reel labeled "House Painting '12."

The Apparition (2012)

Story:

May 21, 1973: Six people are conducting The Charles Experiment; a parapsychological experiment. They stare at a drawing of a deceased man, Charles Reamer, and with all of them concentrating at the same time, they hope to be able to summon his spirit into the room.
Years later, four college students, Patrick (Tom Felton), Lydia (Julianna Guill), Greg (Luke Pasqualino), and Ben (Sebastian Stan) attempt to recreate the Charles Experiment on a larger scale by using modern technology to amplify their concentration over 400 times the original. During the experiment, something attacks the students and pulls Lydia into the wall.
Some time later, Ben and his girlfriend Kelly (Ashley Greene) are living in a nearly empty subdivision along with their neighbors Mike (Rick Gomez), his young daughter Maggie (Anna Clark) and their dog Pepper. One evening, they discover strange burn marks on their counters. That night Kelly awakens to find both doors wide open, even though they had locked them. They decide to change the locks and install surveillance cameras.
The following day their neighbor's dog, Pepper, wanders into the house, walks into the laundry room and collapses. Kelly and Ben take her to the vet, where she dies. Returning home, Kelly notices the floor in the laundry room has begun peeling. She removes some of the linoleum and finds a large amount of mold and spores, Ben finds even more in a crawlspace.
Later, Ben finds 36 "Urgent" emails from Patrick in his inbox that first inform him of a new attempt at the Charles Experiment, followed by a warning that "containment failed" and finally "you are in danger". Attachments to the emails include footage of the new experiment, this time amplifying their signal to that of 4000 people.
Kelly calls for Ben and shows him her closet, in which all of the clothes have been trashed. They begin to hear noises throughout the house. Ben talks Kelly into camping in the yard and agrees to keep watch overnight. During the night, Ben leaves his watch post in the tent to investigate a noise. While he is gone, three of the camera feeds to the surveillance monitor go blank. The last remaining camera falls to the ground and begins to move towards the sleeping Kelly.
The next day, while Kelly is gone, Ben finds another large chunk of mold growing. He prods at it with a broom, causing it to break open and reveal a figurine inside that had been used during the previous experiment. Later, Kelly discovers Ben's equipment from the experiment, including a recording of Lydia's disappearance. She confronts Ben, who admits to taking part in it. After witnessing another appearance by the apparition, they go to a hotel, but they're attacked there as well and flee.
While on the run, they receive a call from Patrick and meet with him. Once together, Patrick explains that the initial experiment enabled a malevolent spirit entity to enter their world and further attempts to contain it have failed. Patrick also mentions he has built a room surrounded by a negative current that he believes protects him from the spirit.
They return to Kelly and Ben's house to try a new experiment to contain the entity, this time using the city's power to simulate the power of 400,000 people. While setting up, Kelly becomes trapped in the laundry room with the spirit, but it disappears. During the experiment, the house begins to shake and break apart, then abruptly stops.
While Kelly and Ben are cleaning out the house, a door behind him opens and Patrick is pulled into the darkness and vanishes. They return to find his chair knocked over and empty. Looking for him, they find various objects merged with parts of the house that were normal seconds before. Unable to find Patrick, they flee leave for the safety chamber in Patrick's house.
Inside Patrick's house, they hear Patrick's personal log being played back, including information about the members of the original experiment. Of the original six, two died, one committed suicide and the other three simply disappeared. After entering and closing the safety chamber cage, the lights go out, and when they come back Ben has disappeared. Kelly exits the chamber and finds Ben's contorted corpse beyond the door. She leaves the house and sees her truck being absorbed into the ground as well.
As Kelly wanders aimlessly, Patrick's narration explains that the first experiment served as a beacon for the entity, while the second one helped it cross into their world. He further explains that it gets stronger with each person it claims, and that it will wear its victims down until they're too weak to resist in which she is attacked by a spirit.
As day breaks, Kelly's wandering leads to an empty Costco. Inside, she walks to the camping section, enters a tent, zips the door closed, and waits. Having given up resisting, a number of hands appear from behind and slowly grab hold of her as the movie cuts to black.

The Possession
Story

The film starts with an old woman trying to open a strange box. She turns on old classic music and grabs holy water and a hammer. Before she is able to destroy the box, she is thrown violently around the room by an unseen force. When her son enters, she is unconscious on the floor.

Next, the audience is introduced to newly divorced couple Clyde (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Stephanie Brenek (Kyra Sedgwick). They have two children, Em (Natasha Calis) and Hannah (Madison Davenport). Clyde introduces his daughters to his new house.

Clyde and his daughters shop at a yard sale, where Em becomes intrigued by an old box which has Hebrew inscriptions engraved on it. Clyde agrees to buy the box for her. When Em walks around the house carrying the box, she discovers the old woman lying in bed with her arms and head covered in bandages. Upon seeing the box, the old lady slams her hand against the window, screaming, until her nurse closes the window blinds.

Em asks her father to open the box, but he is unable to and concludes it is not meant to be opened. Em keeps the box in her bedroom and that night, begins to hear whispering coming from inside the box. She is successfully able to open it, and inside it finds a tooth, a corpse of a moth, and a ring, which she begins to wear. Em then falls asleep with the box.

After coming home the next day, Clyde, Hannah and Em hear an animalistic noise in their kitchen and discover food all over the floor. When the intruder escapes through their pet flap, Clyde assumes it was a raccoon.

Em becomes solitary and spends her spare time staring at the box. Her behavior grows increasingly sinister, to the point where she stabs her father in the hand with a fork. One night while Em is in the bathroom, she starts to vomit. She uses a flashlight and points it into her mouth. After a few seconds, a hand is seen crawling up from the back of her mouth. Em is startled, but she doesn't say anything and goes back to bed. The house later becomes infested with moths, mainly clustered in Em's room.

While at school, one of Em's classmates attempts to steal her backpack. He discovers the box inside, and begins to antagonize Em about it. She screams at him to give the box back, but when he refuses, Em strikes him multiple times. Clyde and Stephanie are summoned to a meeting with the principal and Em's teacher, where they discuss Em's growing violence and how she is becoming increasingly antisocial.

Em's teacher recommends that Em spend time away from the box, so it is left in Em's classroom. Later that night, Em's teacher, curious about the noises emanating from the box, tries to open it, but she dies when a malevolent force attacks her and throws her out a window.

Em tells Clyde about an invisible woman (dybbuk) who lives in her box and says Em is "special". Alarmed by her behavior, Clyde attempts to dispose of the box by throwing it in a trash bin. When he returns home, Clyde finds Em, crying, asking what he has done with the box. When Clyde refuses to tell her where the box is, an unseen force suddenly slaps Em, making it seem as if Clyde is abusing her. Em runs away to the exact area where Clyde had disposed of the box. She manages to retrieve it and begins to converse with the dybbuk. Suddenly, moths fly out of the box and into Em's mouth, symbolizing her full possession. Em faints before Clyde can get to her. Clyde carries Em's unconscious body back to his house, where the police and Stephanie wait to take Em away from Clyde. During this time, we also see Clyde returning to pick up the box left by Em.

Clyde, immensely disturbed, takes the box to a professor at the university. The professor tells him it is a dybbuk box that dates back to the 1920s; it was used to contain a broken spirit, an ancient Jewish evil or demon. Clyde sneaks over to Stephanie's house and enters after she and her boyfriend, Brett (Grant Show), leave. Clyde enters Em's room and begins to read the Bible to her. Em begins to cry, and the Bible is thrown out of Clyde's hands, causing him to retreat.

Clyde immediately travels to a Hasidic community in Brooklyn, and learns from a Jew named Tzadok (Matisyahu) that the possession has three main stages; in the third stage the dybbuk latches onto the host, becoming one entity with it. The only way to defeat the dybbuk is to lock it back into the box via a forced ritual. While further examining the box, Tzadok discovers the demon's name is Abizu, which he explains is the "taker of children".
